Method RC Announces Release of Hellcat Type R Short Course Body

Method RC responds to the overwhelming response to its Mirage body for the TLR 22 with an equally attractive, high performance offering for the RC short course market. The Hellcat Type R short course body fits most popular 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive 1:10 scale RC SCT vehicles and is designed to meet the ROAR Racing regulations for 1/10th RC Short Course Truck. Hellcat sports aggressive styling that is true to full-scale short course racing trucks. Careful placement of air extractors in low pressure zones reduces the parachute effect when jumping without making your truck look like Swiss cheese. Included number plates incorporate a 35 degree kick to help reduce air entrainment behind the cab, reducing drag and parachute effect. The Type R body is perfect for racing as it uses a thinner polycarbonate to reduce weight. When you really want to get aggressive, install the included rear spoiler for added bite.

“After having spent many years improving the aerodynamics of off-road racing trucks in wind tunnels, I wanted to bring that knowledge to the RC world,” said Brian Miller, co-founder of Method RC. “We completed a comprehensive aerodynamic development program with Hellcat that included extensive use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). We can’t wait for our customers to experience the advantages of this body on the track for themselves.”

Hellcat Type R Features:
• Smart placement of air extractors maximizes aerodynamic benefit without compromising the look of the vehicle
• ROAR compliant design
• Made from 0.040" thick water-clear, high-impact, mar resistant polycarbonate (Lexan body)
• Integrated overspray film and included window masks will give your paint job a professional appearance
• Clear overspray film makes it easier to see your paint colors as you apply them
• All fasteners for mounting number plates and rear spoiler are included
• Proudly made in the USA

What's Included:
• Clear Hellcat RC short course body (1 pc)
• Rear spoiler (1 pc) and number plates (2 pcs) (must be trimmed)
• Fasteners kit (1 pc)
• Mirage decal sheet (1 pc)
• Method team decal sheet (1 pc)

This past weekend were Puerto Rico Off Road Nationals @ Barceloneta Rc Track.

My TLR 2.0 was running great. I had some good practice runs a felt great. There were two round of qualyfing with the best one counting in the first round I used Exagons in Red, having great run but no enough to secure the A-Main Spot, In the second round I switched my rear tires with Battle Stars in Red, i did managed to do again a top 10 run but so I need to wait the others qualifiers to pass to see if a finally made the A-Main. I did the A-main but from the back in 9th position, that's was not problem I knew if I had a clean start i could be in a podium spot. For the A-Main i hook up the car with fresh Battle Stars in Red, that was key the car was running and turning great in the first few laps i climb up some positions the be in the top 5 after the first pits I was in first place and maintain for all the race. Although the last few minutes some of the guys were making there moves a doing some pressure i manged to get the Win!!! Thanks Sweep for the support all year!!!

Nathan Waters wins Worksop RD3

Nathan Waters reports on round three of the Schumacher Off Road Indoor Masters at Worksop:

My DEX410 V3 had been very strong in the previous two rounds of the series at Worksop but after a poor result in round two I was determined to make up for lost ground going into round three. In practice the car felt very good on what was a very different layout to the previous rounds, proving the diversity of the DEX410V3.

Round 1:
Qualifying started well working my way from the back of the grid up into third place by the 4 minute mark only for an electrical glitch to put paid to any hopes of an early banker!

Round 2:
Another charge from the back of the grid to claim third in round. The car was obviously very good but I was losing some time in the fast chicanes which were a big feature of the track and one of the only places to make up any time.

Round 3:
After a small change to the wheelbase and front camber link to try and carry more speed through the fast chicanes I headed into round three needing a good result to cement a good place on the grid for the final. The car was very fast and after some scrappy early laps allowing the leader to escape I was soon setting some fast lap times on my way to second in round.

Round 4:
No setup changes for this round and the combination of an excellent car and a clean run put me first in round with the fastest time of the day. Unfortunately Simon Moss had already taken TQ by virtue of three firsts in the first three rounds of qualifying but the performance of the car in this last round had left me quietly confident for the final.

Final:
After a disappointing early mistake had left me finishing in the middle of the field in 2wd I was determined to make up for it in the last race of the day. From the early laps it was obvious that I had more pace than Simon and I was soon looking for a way passed as we edged away from the rest of the field. The tight and twisty nature of the track though made overtaking very difficult and despite pulling along side several times I was struggling to make a clean pass. The car was so good that even with a missed apex or slightly misjudged jump I could easily close in and be right on his tail within a lap. Eventually after four minutes of pressure Simon made a mistake and I was through to cruise to victory with a two second gap behind.

Series so far:
Nearly halfway through the UK’s premier indoor off road series and Team Durango’s 2WD and 4WD cars are performing very well.

In the 4wd class, the DEX410v3 has kept up the previous pace, and at least three DEX410v3’s have made the top ten at each round, with one car making the podium at every round so far. Nathan Waters taking a Win and a 2nd place in rounds 1 and 3, whilst Adam Skelding took a 3rd place in round 2.

The 2wd car hit the ground running from the start after a short outdoor season. With little set-up time, the DEX210 in mid motor configuration was on the pace from round 1 with all 3 cars at the event making the top ten. After its release soon after Round 1 the car has improved quickly as the team worked to find a good base set-up which could be used to fine-tune the car. With 4 cars making the top ten in round 2 and a host of cars just outside the top ten, the DEX210’s pace started to quicken. Round 3 provided a well deserved podium for Craig Collinson and his DEX210 – again four DEX210’s making the top ten showed the quickening pace of the car.

After 3 rounds of the series Team Durango drivers hold strong positions in the series top ten in each class. Four in 4wd and five in 2wd. With 4 rounds to go, everything is still to play for – bad rounds to drop and good ones to work for. We’ll keep you posted on the team’s progress.

Team Durango take 2WD & 4WD at Chadderton Round 2

Batley Buggy Club hosted round 2 of their popular 2011/12 winter series at Chadderton RC Raceway. With 141 entrants, a full day of racing was ahead of the drivers as they arrived at 7:30 on Sunday morning. Greeting the drivers was one of the best track to date, with a mix of jumps, bumps, carpet and the normal cork flooring.

As the day progressed the racing was some of the best we have seen as the track was flowing and allowed passing easily without causing too many problems.

Team Durango’s Craig Collinson who’d already taken the 2010/11 championship, returned to this years series for the first time and promptly took both dBoots Tyred cars toTQ in both 2 & 4wd.

The final came and in 4wd and Craig had car problems on lap 1 – leaving Team Durango’s new signing, Eugene Galley, and local hero Stephen Lawson’s cars to race away. Eugene edging out a little gap lap by lap and taking the win with his DEX410V3.

In 2wd it was Craig Collinson, this time without problems who handled his DEX210 with supreme confidence- leading from start to finish Craig took the win.

Batley Buggy Club Would Like to thank DBoots for there support of the series with dBoots tyres taking TQ in both classes, 1st and 2nd in 4wd and the win in 2wd.

Team Associated/Reedy/LRP's Steven Hartson Wins 2011 ROAR Regional 12 Championship

The 2011 ROAR Regionals at West Coast Raceway in La Mirada, CA, kicked off on Friday December 2 with controlled practice and club racing that night. There were approximately 160 entries from several states that represent ROAR Region 12: California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii; and one driver from Japan (the 2007 2WD World Champion). The weather was typical for sunny California, with blue skies and mid-70-degree temperatures; however, the racing was fast and heated on the race track.

The race format consisted of three rounds of qualifying on Saturday and one round on Sunday, with triple A mains for all classes with a B main or lower.

Throughout qualifying Hartson was the man to beat. With his Reedy and LRP-powered B4.1, B44.1 and SC10 all starting on pole for the main events, the stage was set for a great weekend. With victories in A1 and A2 of both 2WD Modified and 4WD Modified, Hartson wrapped up the titles and only had the 2WD Short Course Modified class to complete the sweep. Another dominating performance from the young Associated star saw him again on the top step of Pro2, this time leading a podium sweep of SC10s.

A shout-out also goes out to Associated/Reedy/LRP teammate Josh Numan for two runner-up positions in 2WD and 4WD Modified.
